CBD tinctures are designed to be taken sublingually (a fancy word for under the tongue.) This is because there are blood vessels under the tongue where CBD can enter the bloodstream immediately. Start with 5mg CBD and place the liquid under the tongue. Hold the liquid there under the tongue for 1-2 minutes and then swallow.
CBD tinctures are best taken after eating, or with a high-fat snack, such as an avocado or nuts. This can provide you up to 5x the absorption rate in your body. That’s a major difference.
How Do I Maximize the Effects of My CBD Tincture?
That’s where bioavailability comes in play. When we say bioavailability we’re referring to how well our body can absorb and use the things we ingest. This is not exclusive to CBD — it applies to all foods, plants, vitamins, etc. The biggest factor is the quality of the substances you are consuming. I only consume CBD tinctures that have been third party tested for potency, heavy metals, microbials, and pesticides. CBD that is backed by science and comes from a reliable source is going to always allow for a more predictable CBD experience. Another factor in bioavailability is how you use the specific products.
When should I take my CBD tincture?
CBD tinctures are great throughout the day. CBD has a calming effect that many users find to be most appealing in the evening hours. If you’re a CBD rookie then we do recommend taking it at night your first time so that you’re in the best location for relaxation! Coffee: There are coffees made with CBD that we love. But for a more accurate dose add some CBD to your morning latte. If you add
Smoothies or Shakes: I like to add CBD tinctures with a strong fruit flavor like the Sweet Orange from Illuminent. It makes the post-workout recovery much more rewarding.
Mid Afternoon Snack: Foods high in good fats like guacamole and hummus are great places to add your CBD tincture.
Yogurt: As yogurt is also a fatty food it can be a great way to add a tincture into your morning routine.
